What the Sweeva?

Farting unicorns and Coffee cups are my lasting memories of the last Surf Party at Sweeva.  How Norbert Ladner can create such an artistic masterpiece from  disposable polystyrene is beyond me.  And well the Surfaholics page is just bizarrely funny.

Different but, what do the two splash pages have in common?  They both stand out from the crowd.  Do yours?

How many times when surfing are you brought to a halt to look at a page.  Not very often I wager.  1000 stock splash pages, indifferent and boring. unbranded or similar.  How many times have you seen the CTP Page ‘your attention grabbing headline goes here’ unchanged from the starting point.  Far too many newbies fail to get the point (I put my hand up, I did too)  that you need to attract the attention of the surfer to get yourself and the brands you are advertising noticed.

Whilst we havent all got Norberts artistic flair nor possess surfaholics sense of humour we could all improve upon the design of the freebies given out by the exchanges (They dont care where the surfers came from just that they did).  Get yourself noticed, stop the surfers in their tracks and the referals will come.  Dont leave your business results to luck.

And now I must go and practice what I preach….

CTP Team Failure

Why was joining a team of site owners not the good idea it seemed.?

The benefits of networking and some healthy competition attracted me to joining a team and what better than to join my StartXchange team leader over at CTP.

Surely the leverage of three seasoned traffic exchange and mailer pros would be the best platform for a successful Click Track Profit Team.  Pre-season and I’m the one bringing in the points almost single handedly – staying up late on the final day  narrowly missing out on securing a position in a higher league (one badge claim from another member would have been enough). Thats ok, I thought, the rest of the team will join in once the season starts .

Day one: me 9 million (run out of XP batteries and tokens to buy more not ideal). rest of team less than 500K each.

Day two and another team attains 300+ million so thats game over then…

Well, no, i’ll not quit.

Hopefully this rant will motivate the team.  Its motivated me i’m turning  the negativity into positivity, implementing  CTP training by building a brand – personalised splash page: building a list: tracking  etc.

Will I still surf for XP? Not directly but when available at the sites I surf then all good.  For example viraldynamyte have XP prize pages (currently up to a 1000XP a time) and contests (I finished 5th and got 40,000XP).

However I  won’t be chasing the golden egg all over TEdom.  Nor will I stay up to 4am unless its to my advantage.  Unless that  is my team become a team.

The Old School Wiz Dynamite team are currently in 4th place over at the zubee zone so perhaps it’s just the CTP team structure is the problem in that the big players just arent getting the incentive to surf .  What do you think?

  1. To me, the point of the teams is to get noticed. Of the people on your team that aren’t surfing, have they made a blog? Are they branding themselves? My money says “nope”.

What it’s gotten you is your blog link passed around in the teams. That’s payoff, and success right there. Great job.

I don’t know your name, however, or what you promote – but, you’re definitely on the right track. Do NOT stop!

    1. Thanks Sunny, names Pete btw. I went for subtle hyperlinks in my first blog but will begin shameless self/site promotion in the coming weeks.

  2. I applaud the effort big time. And it sucks, when you put in the effort and no one else follows your lead but something to remember…You are leading by example.

People want to be around people that ‘do things’ and not just talk the talk…I think this post may spur some of that and while you can’t control what others do….You can show them how hard you are working.

    People notice….I know I did. 🙂

    1. Thanks Jon, On reflection, despite the frustration, I’ve finally put into practice all the CTP training and what a result hey Jon Olson and Sunny Suggs on my ‘list’. mmm now to find something to sell you….lol

  3. OK I tried to ignore you , but your page is compelling.

I was surprised to find such a refreshing and honest blog post. I formed my own team because Jon and them rejected me. Well in truth they were a closed team and rejected everyone, I think. LOL

Anyway, I decided that even if I was alone, I could bring my team up to at least middle ground. I was surprised and delighted to have people join me.

I have always lead by example. It took time but I soon started attracting other hard working, motivated team members.

I guess the point is, we are not so different.

It takes perseverance and trust in yourself. I applaud your courage even for writing this post.

I wish I had lured you into my team. I wish you the Best of everything. I will surely be keeping my eye on you.

    1. Thanks Evelyn. Before I realised there was an ‘old school’ involvement I too applied and was rejected by a team not Jons but… I guess you missed my application. lol, how things could have been different. Well done though on building two top teams and is it three websites?

Unfortuanetly it wasn’t courage but frustration. After all the positive comments Im glad that I took the plunge but am now feeling the pressure (especially with you kreeping an eye on me. lol) to follow up.

  4. Hey Pete,

Firstly, thank you VERY much for all your hard work! For our SX, Zubee and CTP teams!

Secondly, I’m sorry you’re feeling frustrated at the moment, all I can say is that unfortunately our Team Leader has been under the weather lately so he hasn’t been online as much as he would have liked. However don’t despair, I’m checking our CTP team too daily now as admin and things can only improve! 🙂

Congratulations on your blog and keep moving forward! Lee 🙂

    1. Hey Lee, I didnt realise our Leader was under the weather send my best wishes and hope for a speedy recovery.

Sorry I didnt mean to increase your work load but we surely do need some encouragement. Part of my frustration was because I know you can run a successful team look at how well we do at SX with less members and fewer Kore4. I have a few ideas can I send them to you?

Would you be interested in writing a feature (or maybe a q/a) for the blog. Im sure people would be interested to hear the other side of the story and how much hard work is needed to run a succesful company. There I go increasing your workload even more 😉
